Born from conviction
His diagnosis was not going to be the end of our story.

OUR STORY
Eleeo began before we knew how deeply neurological illness would shape our family. Looking back, we believe God was preparing us for work we could not yet see.
For years, Joe lived with changes that were difficult to understand and even harder to explain. When he was finally diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson's, we felt an immediate conviction that his diagnosis was not the end of the story and the path placed before us was not the only one available. Joe chose to meet that conviction with extraordinary courage. He was willing to question, learn, take a different path, and share the most vulnerable parts of his journey so that others might feel less afraid and more hopeful about what could still be possible.
Courtney brought more than twenty years of nursing and healthcare experience, but this calling reached far beyond her professional background. She was living it as Joe's wife and advocate while also navigating a neurological diagnosis with one of their daughters. As a wife, mother, nurse, caregiver, and advocate, she understood both the complexity of the body and the heartbreak of loving two people fiercely while being asked to accept answers that did not feel complete.
Courtney was not fighting for one person she loved, but two, while trying to hold their family together and find a way forward. There were moments when it felt as though she was losing a husband and a daughter at the same time, yet God had placed a conviction in her heart that their stories were not over.
Her faith, clinical knowledge, relentless research, and determination to find a better path became the foundation for turning what their family was learning into something that could help others. She became determined not only to find answers for Joe and their daughter, but to understand the deeper connections between their healing journeys.
Never could she have imagined how closely those paths would become intertwined, or how the pain of those years would shape the work she was being called to do. Looking back, she can see that God carried her through with a hope that refused to let go, even when she could not yet see the way forward.
What first felt like two separate battles gradually revealed a much larger calling: to help show what may be possible for people facing neurological conditions, and to give other families the hope, understanding, and support they so desperately need.
Together, Courtney and Joe built Eleeo from lived experience, faith, and a conviction that healing deserves to be pursued with courage, curiosity, and hope. The Eleeo Sanctuary grew from that same calling, creating a place where people facing a neurological diagnosis can find support, community, and the courage to believe there may be more to their story too.
